Ollantaytambo
Along the way to Machu Pichu, I stopped by the ancient city of Ollantaytambo, a really mellow little town of narrow cobblestone streets that have been continuosly inhabited since long before the arrival of the Spanish. Originally, the town had only one entrance. The entire town is dominated by a massive Inca fortress climbing the hills above. This is where the rebellious Manco Inca fled after his defeat at Sacsaywaman. After unleashing a planned flood, Pizarro's men were showered with arrows and and rocks and then chased out of the area by the Incas.

Inca plumbing. . . still works today!
